December has brought yet another passing of long time CTA employee, Robert L. Stenhouse, who died December 21, 2018 from a stroke.  Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Services for Bob will be on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at the St. Paul's AME Church, 2024 Ashby Ave., Berkely, CA.Condolences may be sent to his wife Phyllis.

Once again, REACTA has been notified of the passing of one of its members, Galal J. Kernahan who died Novermber 29, 2018.  Galal was 93 and worked at Service Center One in West Covina in the 1970's and retired in 1982.  Galal was a dedicated advocate for CTA members, while maintaining an enthusiastic interest in politics and journalism.

REACTA was notified that Stephen H. Edwards, past President of CTA and long time REACTA member has passed away.  Click here to read his obituary as found in the Fresno Bee newspaper.

Who We Are:

The Retired Employees Association of the California Teachers Association (REACTA) is a volunteer organization made up of retirees of the CTA and many of its affiliates.  Members statewide include associate, professional, managerial, supervisory, confidential, spouses/domestic partners of eligible members who are recipients of the CTA Employees' Retirement Benefits Plan and/or direct (not dependent) benefits from the CTA Employees' Health and Welfare Benefits Trust.


  • To support, protect and enhance the California Teachers Association (CTA) Employees' Retirement Benefits Plan and the CTA Employees' Health and Welfare Benefits Plan.
  • To communicate with members on  matters of interest.
  • To perform tasks, functions, and activities as determined by the membership.
  • To provide social contact between members.
