We lost another of our colleagues, Steve McDonald on December 4th.  The Celebration of Life for Steve will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018, 1:00-4:00 pm in the San Diego E.A. Office, 10393 San Diego Mission Rd., San Diego, CA  92018.  All are welcome.

Dom Summa shared the passing of
Helen O'Donnell, CTA Region 1 Field Staff.  Many REACTA members worked with Helen.  She not only provided excellent support to her members but also was a trainer at many CTA statewide conferences.  She was a recognized leader among her CSO colleagues.  There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 13th at 2:00 pm at the Friedman Center, 4676 Mayette Ave., Santa Rosa.  Condolences may be sent to the Helen O'Donnel Family, c/o Paula Marsh, 9866 Oakpace East, Folsom, CA 95630.

Attached is the 2018 REACTA Scholarship Application Packet.  We are awarding up to three scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each, to students currently attending or planning to register for an accredited degree granting institution or college.

It is again with heavy heart that we share the passing of another of our amazing colleagues, Susan Popovich, whose life ended too soon.  Susan was killed Sunday when her car was struck by big rig.  Several of our colleagues are heading to Santa Fe to help with all that needs to be done, as Susan's surviving relative, a niece, lives in New York.  Condolences may be sent to Amy Chato Conlon, 61 W 73rd St., Apt B, New York, NY 10023.  This is a link to an article written by one of Susan's colleagues in the Democratic Party in Santa Fe which sums up what we all knew and loved about Susan https://retakeourdemocracy.org/2017/08/29/sf-dem-chair-susan-popovich-has-died-tragically-and-too-soon/.  Please see the Member to Member page for continuing information regarding memorial services and pictures.

It is with heavy heart that we share the passing of our dear colleague
Tony Leon. Tony passed away peacefully on July 4th in his new home in Washington state from cancer that had spread to his bones.  He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know and work with him.  A memorial service is being planed for some time in August and when details are known, they will be posted.  In the meantime if you wish to send condolences to Tony's wife Jill, you may do so to:  Jill Prater, 3179 Fox Spit Rd., Langley, WA  98260.  Click on the Member to Member page for a tribute to Tony by one of his best friends, Bill Ribblett.  Other stories to follow as submitted.
